Terms of Service
These terms apply to your account, community participation and use of NOOK.
Last updated: 10 August 2026
1. Operator and eligibility
NOOK is operated by Joonsung Lee, an individual trading as NOOK. The service is for people aged 18 or over who are affiliated with a supported university. You must use an email address you control, verify a university email address that belongs to you, and provide accurate registration information. We may refuse or remove accounts that do not meet these rules.
2. Community and anonymous participation
NOOK provides university community and academic-organisation features. A post marked anonymous hides your nickname from other users; it does not make you anonymous to NOOK. Restricted internal identifiers are retained where needed for moderation, security and valid legal obligations.
3. Conduct
You must not use NOOK to harass, threaten, discriminate, impersonate, dox, defraud or spam; post illegal, exploitative, sexually abusive, hateful or infringing material; facilitate violence or crime; bypass access controls; or interfere with the service.
4. Reports, moderation, complaints and appeals
Use the in-app Report action for content or users. We may restrict visibility, remove content, preserve evidence, warn or suspend users, and refer matters to authorities where legally appropriate.
For potentially illegal content, an unavailable report path, a moderation complaint or an appeal, email support@official-nook.com with the relevant content or report identifier. Do not send passwords or one-time codes. Credible threats should also be reported to the appropriate emergency service.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant NOOK a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display and technically adapt that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service. You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit it.
Account deletion may leave discussion posts and comments in anonymised form after direct account links and identifying author fields are removed.
6. Third-party services and academic information
NOOK relies on service providers described in the Privacy Policy and may link to external university or third-party resources. Timetables, module details, reviews, maps and community answers may be incomplete or inaccurate. Confirm important academic, safety and deadline information with the relevant official source.
7. Account restriction and deletion
We may restrict or terminate an account where reasonably necessary for safety, law, security or material breach of these Terms. You may delete your account in the app. In-app deletion starts immediately, is irreversible and removes the authentication record after the server-side erasure process.
8. Availability and liability
The service is provided with reasonable care but without a promise of uninterrupted availability or accuracy of user-generated content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limits consumer or data-protection rights that apply to you.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these Terms and will give notice of material changes where required. The laws of England and Wales govern these Terms, subject to any mandatory rights you have where you live.
